In Jammu and Kashmir, the Pakistan Army has initiated small arms fire at various points along the Line of Control (LoC), prompting a swift response from the Indian Army.
According to the Indian Army, the firing was instigated by Pakistani forces, but they effectively countered the attack. Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties, and further information is being gathered.
Tensions have escalated significantly following the tragic deaths of 26 civilians attributed to terrorists supported by Pakistan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the recent Pahalgam terror attack, vowed to pursue and retaliate against the terrorists and their supporters relentlessly.
A large-scale anti-terror operation has been ongoing in the Baisaran meadow area of Pahalgam for four days, aimed at locating the terrorists responsible for the civilian deaths.
In related operations, a soldier lost his life during a confrontation with terrorists in Udhampur district on Thursday.
The Army reported that a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police was initiated based on specific intelligence in Basantgarh, Udhampur. During the operation, intense gunfire erupted, resulting in serious injuries to one soldier, who later succumbed despite medical efforts. Operations are still in progress.
Another encounter occurred in Kulgam district between security forces and terrorists.
The firefight began with an exchange of gunfire, but reports indicate that no further exchanges have taken place since Friday morning.
Additionally, security forces launched another operation in Poonch district targeting terrorists on Thursday.
Currently, three operations are underway, including the extensive anti-terror operation in Pahalgam, aimed at tracking down those responsible for the massacre in Baisaran meadow.
This operation is being supported by technology, including drones, helicopters, electronic surveillance, and sniffer dogs. Security forces have been instructed to locate and apprehend the individuals behind the killings of 26 civilians, which included 25 tourists and a local resident.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the site to deliver a strong message to those involved in the Baisaran meadow massacre. In response to the Pahalgam attack, India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty established in 1960. The Attari border crossing has been closed, and Pakistani nationals have been given 48 hours to leave. Furthermore, the staff at India's High Commission in Pakistan has been reduced to 30%, and the military attaché from the Pakistan High Commission has been declared persona non grata.
